Asian Hornets

European hornets and wasps are much maligned and feared insects. Yes, their sting hurts, and can cause medical emergencies in those sensitive to their venom, but they have evolved to live here, and perform the useful task of eating other pests that feed on fruit and vegetables. If it weren't for wasps and hornets we would have smaller crop yields, and far more nuisance insects.
Asian hornets are an invasive species. Though they thrive in France they do not belong here. They compete with our native fauna, and should be eradicated. They will defend their nest if threatened, which could be painful, and dangerous, so don't tackle them alone: call a professional pest controller.
Applicateur3D works closely with the local Police Municipale and Pompiers in the Cher (18), responding when Asian hornet nests are found, and we offer an emergency call-out service.

We can treat nests up to a height of 30m using our specialist equipment. We use professional products, in powder or liquid form, injected directly into the nest, minimizing the risk to non-target species.
At ground level this work is done by hand, but when a nest is high up, in a tree or under a roof, for example, a 'lance télescopique' or a specialised paintball gun may be the best option.
It is not always possible or desirable to remove a destroyed nest: even a dead nest can act as a deterrent to would-be colonies.
I featured on TV BBC1 "The One Show" demonstrating how Asian hornets are identified and treated. Applicateur 3D has a lot of experience working with Asian hornets, so as they continue their spread northwards and across La Manche/ the Channel I have been training British pest controllers on how to locate and destroy Asian hornet nests using current best practice.
